  12. The LibraryCranker.cpt archive contains the following items:
  13. •    LibraryCranker™ -- a small application to crank out text files from RRH/SS File transfer sections.
  14. •    LibraryCranker.Data -- a sample data file.
  15. •    Empty PD Stack -- a HyperCard stack that will import the text file and create a nice HyperCard stack of your BBS File Library.
  16. •    About LibraryCranker™ -- the text file you are reading now.
  17. •    IMPORTANT! -- about differences between this version and version 1.0 that are very important for you to heed if you used version 1.0.

  19. LibraryCranker™

  21. This program simply reads a list of RRH/SS file transfer sections in and creates a text file containing a listing of the filename, its name of the BBS, its size and the description.

  23. I wrote it so that I could create a text file that can be imported into a HyperCard stack containing the Raleigh Mac User's Group's Public Domain and Shareware library collection, and did not feel that the other information, such as who downloaded it, and the # of downloads was important.

You must create a file called "LibraryCranker.Data".  The first line is the complete pathname to the desired output filename.  The remainder is a list containing pairs of 2 lines for each RRH/SS file transfer section.  The first line of each pair is the complete pathname to the file transfer section, and the second line is a more descriptive name ofwhat you want listed in the output file.

  37. If any of the filenames or paths are bad, then the program aborts when it hits them.  Also, the program aborts if the LibraryCranker.Data file is not present.

  39. It is a fairly short, simple program, and I did not feel it warranted charging a shareware fee.  However, the program is copyrighted.

  41. LibraryCranker™ was developed using Prototyper™ and MPW Object Pascal.

  45. Empty PD Stack
  46.  
  47. This is a HyperCard (2.0 or later) stack that is empty and waiting to get filled up with files from the LibraryCranker™ output.  Execute LibraryCranker™ on your entire file library, then launch HyperCard, open this stack, and type "DoImport" into the message box.  You will be prompted for the input file, and off it goes.  You will get a card for every file on the bbs, plus summary cards with a scrolling list of every file in each individual file transfer section, that is cross-linked to the individual file cards.

  49. You only have to do one thing.  Just edit the title screen and the help screen to refer to your own BBS.

  53. The format of the LibraryCranker.data file has slightly changed to include the name of the output file in the first line.  Please change all your previous LibraryCranker.data files, to include this or else you might end up overwriting your file transfer sections with garbage.
